Overcoming Depression & Anxiety With Natural Alternatives To Modern Medicine.

So, you're depressed, maybe a little bit anxious... well you're not alone. Recent medical studies show that 7% of Americans suffer from some level of depression and 18% of us suffer from anxiety -- so why is it that 23% of Americans are taking prescribed medication to treat the symptoms of these two conditions, while 70% of us have admitted to self-medicating? Well, that's a simple one... the "Medical Mafia". Now I say that as tongue-in-cheek, but let's be real for a minute. We can't turn on the radio, TV or browse the internet without seeing or hearing an advertisement trying to convince us that our quality of life could be much better by taking a pill. The ads always end with us self-diagnosing our problem based on what a voice-over actor read from a script, that was written by an advertising executive, that was hired by the marketing department of a pharmaceutical company to convince us that we just can't live another second without their product. You know, just like a car manufacturer or retail store would do with their product, and that's the way the world works, but I find it highly distasteful and dishonest when a pharmaceutical company uses this technique to solicit new clientele, especially when their potential client base target suffers from a medical disorder, or even worse, does not suffer from a medical disorder at all, but are convinced they do, solely based on the solicitation and then ask their doctor for that "miracle pill". I mean you can't even go to the supermarket anymore without seeing "little Susie Q Homemaker" stoned out of her effing mind on prescribed opioids and benzos wild her three obnoxious (but medicated) children scream for her attention because she's too stoned to pay them any mind... and what kills me is that "little Susie Q Homemaker" drove to get there in her over-sized SUV. With that said, I am not against modern medicine at all. Medical advancements and treatments have given people who truly suffer from medical conditions a better quality of life, but at the same time there are many different ways to treat mild to severe medical disorders (especially depression and/or anxiety) without using modern chemical compounds that for the most part do not treat the condition but only mask the symptoms, making the person using them dependent on them. Now that is great for the pharmaceutical company because you're not only going to be a potential lifetime consumer of their product... but over time your tolerance will build up and you will have to use more of the same compound to achieve the same results, making you an addict and not a patient... and let's not forget about the side effects that could be worse than your symptoms.  It's kinda funny that if you Google the term "drug addict" the definition is "a person addicted to an ILLEGAL drug; when the correct definition is "a person addicted to a particular substance". I believe the modern philosopher "Wu-Tang" said it best "cash rules everything around me"... but back to my point. I believe in a balance between modern medical advancements including chemical compound medicines (when truly needed) and natural remedies that we have used since the beginning of time. I strongly believe that the modern medical community (for the most part) frowns upon unprofitable remedies regardless how effective they are, so I'm going to list the ways I found have helped me personally dealing with depression and anxiety in the hopes that it may offer others like yourself the same relief I experienced.

To start with, the very first thing you want to do is go to your general physician to get blood work done. One of the most common reasons a person suffers from depression and/or anxiety is due to mineral or vitamin deficiencies. Regardless how stubborn you are, or how severe your symptoms may seem, there's no way around the fact that your body is made up of 70% water and relies on minerals and vitamins to function correctly. Hell, if you're dehydrated with a low potassium level and a vitamin D deficiency you're going to be lethargic, constipated with a short temper, and that's enough to make anyone depressed. You see where I'm going with this? So instead of going to social media and posting about your emotional state while popping pills and seeking the advice from strangers (for the most part) that may enjoy giving poor advice in hopes that you hurt yourself just for entertainment value (because their life sucks), go to the doctor and get blood work done. The cure for your depression and/or anxiety may be a simple trip to your local health food store's vitamin aisle.

Now that you have the answer to if your depression and/or anxiety is being caused by a deficiency or psychiatric condition, you can go about treating your symptoms naturally. Below are a list of techniques and holistic remedies (medicine alternatives) that will help ease your suffering.

Music Selection
As a person that has a love for all music, I have always found the saying "music has charms to soothe a savage beast" very intriguing. When William Congreve wrote that in "The Mourning Bride" at the turn of the 18th-century, music was much different than it is today. Now I'm not referring to style or genre, but the frequency it was composed at. The pre-industrial standard of 1939 changed the standard frequency pitch that musical instruments are tuned to from 432 Hz to what we use today of 440 Hz. That does not sound like much of a difference (see what I did there), but it really is.  Dr. Joseph Pelayo, a Naturopathic Doctor,  in the late 1990's focused his work on a mathematical matrix made of nine sequences of frequencies that he believed had healing powers. So... I'm not really into the "supernatural", I'm more of a "show me the facts" kinda guy, so I looked into it and to my surprise, it had some validity to it. When most people meditate to music and/or "the OM (AUM)" sound, the frequency is 528 Hz. This frequency has been proven to repair damaged DNA in plant life in a controlled environment, and music composed that is tuned at 432 Hz resonates in harmony with 528 Hz. So what does that mean for 440 Hz tuning? Well, 440 Hz resonates with frequency 741 Hz and in dissonance to 528 Hz. The frequency 741 Hz has also prevented growth in plant life in a controlled environment, so if you didn't guess it yet, yes... music played with tuning to 440 Hz for prolonged periods of time can prevent growth in living organisms. So you may be asking your self "WTF does this have to do with me, I'm not a plant"... and I said the same thing. Since the human body is made up of 70% water I wanted to share its effect in water with you, but all the videos I found online were not the best quality; so you can see in this video what 432 Hz vs 440 Hz does to sand. So the 1st technique I would recommend is to listen to music tuned at 432 Hz once a day or meditate to 528 Hz.

Daily use of an Acupressure Mat
One may think that resting on a product called "bed of nails"  would completely suck, but it is very relaxing and helps. I'm really not going to get into the "why this works" since there is no real medical proof, but I use mine every day and love it. It does take some time to get used to, but it is worth it 100%. There is also a great second use for this product... when you have a house guest that overstays their welcome, you can put it out as a shower mat when they are in the shower. I'm 97.45% sure that the manufacturer of this product would not agree with that, but "damn it feels good to be a gangsta".

Sleep
The last technique I want to share with you is something I do not get a whole lot of, but it is not about how much sleep you get, it is about the quality. So here is my recommendation. Leave all electronic devices in another room (turned off). If you use your phone as an alarm clock, go spend the $20 and get an old-school alarm clock. Your need-to-know everything as it is happening on social media is effing with your sleep pattern, so if you re-train yourself to put you first, and truly not give an eff about what someone else is doing, you will have a better quality of sleep.

Smokable/Steeping Dry Herbs for Depression & Anxiety Immediate Relief
Most of these herbs contain DMT (the spirit molecule) so DO NOT mix them with a mao inhibitor such as Passion Flower when smoking or Turmeric when steeping. When mixed with a mao inhibitor they may become psychoactive. From the list below, I have personally found that Mugwort works the best for me.
If you are in a state where cannabis is legal, mix a 10% cannabis to 90% dried herb of your choice. The 10% cannabis will open your CBD 1 and 2 receptors allowing you to experience the full medicinal properties of the plant. If you are not in a state where cannabis is legal, I would recommend supplementing your diet with CBD oil.

Natural Benzodiazepines Alternative Daily Supplements
If you are taking any medication, talk to your doctor (and read the effing label) before taking a daily supplement. Opposed to the immediate relief smoking or seeping dried herbs offers, taking a daily supplement can take up to 30 days to receive the full health benefit but it offers all-day relief.
